Digital printing on synthetic fabric. Three layers are shrunk and crinkled when melted. The layers are put together with wire pieces piercing through the synthetic fabric—Beads are strung on the wire an pieces of digitally printed beverage cans are added to the wires. This piece is in a private collection located in Toronto Canada. 

More Encaustic with Digital Prints

These studies include digital prints on alternative surfaces with encaustic. My inspiration is observing the effect of combining digital prints and other elements to build textures with the wax.  In the previous post the base of the encaustic collage was paper clay and the base surface of the clay was fluid.  These compositions are built on Ampersand clayboard which is flat.  Descriptions accompany each image.

Textures of Book of Forests 1 Continued

Textures featured here are another back to back section of Book of Forests 1.  The top page is a digital print on watercolor paper.  On top of the watercolor page is a pattern taken from the other print.  This pattern is printed on a bark paper purchased from an on line paper company.  It doesn't have the same texture as my amate bark paper, so now my bark paper prints come from my hand made bark paper.

Here is the opposite side of this group of pages.  It has a watercolor paper digital print base. Pieces of watercolor paper are cut with crochet added around the cut shapes.  These elements are then attached to the watercolor print base and attached to the front side before folding and adding these pages to the accordion style book.

Experimenting with Texture

Doing the textural thing seems to be a habit in my work.   Everything is growing texture.  My focus is to build layers and look for ways to build textures that are similar to forest environments.  There is a feeling and an experience built on texture that is alluding me.  In these pics you will see compositions built with digital images printed on alternative surfaces.
